SCIENTIFIC EQUIPMENT DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE, MINNA (SEDI-M )
The Scientific Equipment Development Institute, Minna was set up with the following mandates:
- Research into and develop systems for the mass-production of:
- School science laboratory apparatus for physics, chemistry, biology, introductory technology, social studies, etc
- Scientific Equipment for research, industry and higher institution.
- Measuring and control instruments for electrical, electronics, mechanical workshop artisanal etc. industries and utility equipments.
- Instruments for land surveying, geophysical investigations, meteorological observations etc.
- Transfer scientific equipment manufacturing technologies to private sector industries and render consultancy and extension services to organizations.
The Scientific Equipment Development Institute, Minna has made remarkable progress in development of Science Infrastructure in Nigeria. The Institute has produced many scientific instruments, laboratory materials and supplies, and scientific equipment for schools, hospitals and industries. Some of the technologies developed or acquired are:

 Test Tube Producing Machine
SEDI-M has acquired a test tube producing machine for producing test tubes of different sizes using glass tubings. The machine has an installed capacity of one million pieces per annum. With this machine, test tubes of different sizes have been produced for schools and medical laboratories.
Soxhlet Extractor Apparatus
This apparatus is for chemical solvents extraction.
Laboratory Plastic Wares
SEDI-M has acquired the technology for manufacture of different plastic wares required by laboratories in schools, hospitals and industries. The plastic wares include measuring cylinders, beakers, funnel, water dispenser, container, protractor. Different sizes of these products can be produced.
