A two-day training workshop titled "Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Management was conducted by the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology on the 12-13 February, 2014.

The workshop was aimed at educating researchers on the need and benefits of intellectual property protection and management. The workshop was in response to the potential impacts on national development and promotion of research culture.

The objectives of the training workshop were to:

  • Increase awareness of Nigerian Researchers to Intellectual Property
  • Train Nigerian researchers on the management of Intellectual Property
  • Train Researchers on the process of Intellectual Property generation, protection, licensing and commercialization;
  • Develop critical skills for the management of IP by research institutions' IP teams.

The training was targeted at researchers and those involved in the management of IP in research institutions. NASENI through the Technology Business Development Department (TBD) participated at the event with an electronic copy of the database of ready and near-ready research outputs for inclusion into the proposed updated compendium of R&D outputs in the office..
