The world wide electronic revolution has pushed numerous electronic products into Nigeria from outside the country. In fact, Nigeria is reputed to be the fastest growing electronic market especially with respect to Information and Communications Technology (ICT). The Institutional mandate of ELDI, Awka include:
- Re-engineering and technology adaptation
- Computer technology
- Technology Transfer to the private sector
- Technology empowerment of SMEs in the electronic subsection
- Man power development
- Electronic Components, devices, manufacturing systems and products development.
The mission of ELDI iis to develop into a center of excellence in professional electronics that is competitive in the global market through re-engineering, technology transfer and innovation.
The vision of the Institute is to build an organization that possesses full capability to technologically empower relevant SMEs to develop business and commercial products and services based on electronics required in the global market.
In order to enable Nigerian industries compete for their own fair share of the growing market, ELDI has developed several electronic products and is transferring the technologies to cooperating Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
The technologies include:
- Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR)
- Cat Public Address system (CAPRS)
Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) - Gordian Stabilizer
Energy supply from the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) is characterized by fluctuating low and at times high voltages. In order to solve this problem, CAT developed the Gordian series of Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR) . Gordian AVR regulates fluctuating low/high supply voltages in order to safeguard and enhance the performance of domestic and industrial appliances. Five power voting: 1.2, 3.5 and 10 KVA are produced.
CAT PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM (CAPAS)
CAPAS is a public address system for use in large gatherings such as religious, workshop, rally, fair, meeting, conferences, etc. It has high fidelity and provides faithful and undistorted reproduction of speeches and audio signals.
The system which is both mains and battery powered is designed to meet the requirements of tropical climate. CAPAS has versions for indoor and out door activities.
